Thank You RI Community Foundation and XPAC!

8/30/08 - Just Kids would like to thank XPAC and the Rock Island Community Foundation for contributing to our programs:

  • XPAC donated $275.00 to our Just Kids @ XPAC site.  These funds were raised from dunk tank sales at their Employee Appreciation Night!  Thank you to XPAC and the employees that were willing to get dunked for a good cause!  We were able to purchase new bicycles and our students love them!
     
  • The Rock Island Community Foundation donated over $400.00 to assist with the purchase of a washer/dryer unit.  Thank you for helping improve our programs!

Congrats to Lily!

Lily, a student at Just Kids II, won our raffle for the Corbin Bleu VIP package.  She will be attending the concert with her mom and sisters.  Thank you to all that participated in the raffle.

Just Kids Receives CFGRB Funds!

6/11/08 - Just Kids has been awarded $5,000.00 in grant funds from the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend's Community Impact Fund.  These funds will be used to complete the administrative office renovation to meet ADA and OSHA regulations.  Just Kids would like the thank the Community Foundation for investing in the lives of young children in our community.  To learn more about the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, visit their website at www.cfgrb.org


 

First-Ever Just Kids Trivia Night!

Just Kids will host a trivia night to raise funds for our educational programs!  Please join us:
 

Date: Friday, June 13th  2008
Where:  Milan Community Center
Times:  Doors open at 6:00pm / Trivia starts at 7:00pm
Cost: $10.00 per person / 8 people per team

Get your team together for a night of trivia, cash prizes, raffles and lots of fun!  Teams are encouraged to bring their own snacks and a cash bar will be available.

Support Just Kids at the Ballpark!

Join Just Kids at Modern Woodmen Field on Saturday, May 31st to see the Quad City River Bandits battle the Burlington Bees. Just Kids will be at the game selling tennis balls for a contest after the game. Throw your tennis ball at the targets for a chance to win great prizes! The gates open at 4:30pm and the first pitch is at 6:00pm. Come out for a great night of family fun and support Just Kids!

Just Kids to Host Barnes & Noble Bookfair!

Just Kids will host a bookfair at Barnes & Noble bookstore in Davenport to Celebrate the 2008 Week of the Young Child!  Just Kids is excited to partner with Barnes & Noble for this exciting event.  Families are invited to the store on Saturday, April 19th to see a gallery of Just Kids project work, meet children's author Kashmira Sheth and sing along with children's musician Steve Couch!  Plus, when you mention that you're shopping for Just Kids, a portion of your purchase will be donated to support our centers!  Celebrate the Week of the Young Child and have some family fun on April 19th! 

Working for Children and Families

On Wednesday, March 5, 2008, several Just Kids Administrative Staff Members traveled to the State Capitol in Springfield for a rally advocating the continuation of quality early education programs in Illinois, and further support of working families.  The rally was sponsored by Illinois Action for Children.  Pictured below is Lisa Corrigan, Subsidy Coordinator for Just Kids, shaking hands with Illinois Senator Mike Jacobs.

 

 

 

Just Kids to Hold Java Jolts!

Just Kids will hold two Java Jolts on Friday, February 22 and Friday, February 29 from 7:30am - 9:30am both days.  This is a great opportunity for community members to visit Just Kids and see our classrooms in action.  Plus, you will receive FREE hot coffee as you visit.  This community event is sponsored by Happy Joe's and Danny Boy's Country Fixing's.  Hope to see you there! 

 

Just Kids Staff to Participate in Moonwalk

Just Kids staff members will participate in the Quad City Health Initiative's 2008 Moonwalk.  The moonwalk is a virtual competition in which regional teams compete in a race equivalent to two trips to the moon.  Walking, running and other physical activity will be monitored by each team and converted into miles in the race.  Just Kids hopes that participation in this event will promote health, physical fitness and teamwork, and that these lessons can be further incorporated into our programs.  For more information about the Moonwalk, visit the Quad City Health Initiative's website.

 

Just Kids Receives Continued Funding from the Moline Foundation Grant

Just Kids has received continued funding from the Moline Foundation to reconfigure the office space to meet ADA and OSHA regulations.  We received word of the Moline Foundation's continued support on 2/1/2008.  We would once again like to extend our thanks to the Moline Foundation for helping us improve our office space so we can continue to grow and expand our programs. 

 

Just Kids to Plant New Landscaping, Thanks to Mel McKay Trust

Just Kids has received funding from the Mel McKay Trust to plant new trees for our outdoor learning environments! The Mel McKay Trust awarded Just Kids with a check for $1,200.00 on December 31, 2007 to add 4 new trees to the South play yard at the Main Building.  We would like to extend our thanks to the Mel McKay Trust for aiding in improving the quality of our outdoor areas for our students! 

Just Kids Presents the Xtreme Winter Celebration!

Just Kids will host the Xtreme Winter Celebration, January 23, 2008 at 5:30 at Thomas Jefferson School, Milan.  This event is open to families and children, and will feature Just Kids students performing songs, skits and jokes based on the wonderful winter season.  Student-created winter artwork will be on display throughout the evening.  Families can enjoy performances, informative booths and refreshments throughout the evening.  A basket raffle and 50/50 drawing will also take place. This family-friendly event is sponsored by Aflac, the Rock Island Regional Office of Education and Thomas Jefferson School!

Just Kids has received funding from the Moline Foundation to reconfigure the office space to meet ADA and OSHA regulations.  We are honored to have been chosen by the Foundation to receive funding, and we would like to extend our thanks to the Moline Foundation for aiding in improving our facilities so we can provide the best programs for children and families.
